A big blow for Jose Mourinho and his Fenerbahce side after a shock defeat to Besiktas leaves them three points behind Victor Osimhen's Galatasaray.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and his Fenerbahce side suffered a major setback on Saturday after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Besiktas.

The shock defeat left them three points behind Victor Osimhen's Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig title race.

This result was particularly frustrating for Mourinho, who had hoped to close the gap on the defending champions with a victory.

Fenerbahce entered the match with the opportunity to level points with Galatasaray but struggled to find their rhythm against a determined Besiktas in the heated clash.

The decisive moment came in the second half when Ciro Immobile scored the only goal of the match, giving Besiktas the edge and ultimately sealing all three points for the hosts.

Despite having a strong start to the season, Fenerbahce's performance fell short, and they were unable to take advantage of their chances led by striker Eden Dzeko.

This defeat will be particularly disappointing for the Portuguese coach who is looking to end Galatasaray’s reign as Super Lig champions.

With this result, Fenerbahce sit in second place with 32 points from 14 matches, while Galatasaray lead with 35 points.

The loss not only dampens Fenerbahce's title aspirations but also puts additional pressure on Mourinho.

With the league race heating up, Fenerbahce will need to quickly regroup and refocus if they hope to keep pace with Galatasaray and contend for the championship this season.
