Former FKF Deputy General Secretary Herbert Mwachiro contested the previous elections garnering three votes.

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Deputy General Secretary/CEO has expressed his uncertainty regarding a potential run for the FKF Presidency in 2024.

This revelation comes as the football fraternity eagerly awaits the next chapter in the FKF's leadership, with several candidates expected to throw their hats into the ring to challenge the incumbent, Nick Mwendwa.

Mwachiro, who previously vied for the FKF Presidency in 2020, has remained tight-lipped about his future ambitions.

"When elections are called, then we will decide. For now, the elections have not been called, so we can only wait and see," the administrator told Pulse Sports after being questioned about his potential candidacy.

The FKF elections are slowly gaining momentum, and numerous candidates are expected to throw their hats into the ring, challenging Mwendwa for the coveted position.

Mwendwa, who successfully defended his seat in 2020 by securing an overwhelming majority of 77 out of 85 votes, will undoubtedly face formidable opponents who are determined to unseat him.

While Mwachiro is yet to make a definitive decision, one candidate who has already declared his intentions to contest the FKF Presidency is US-based former Harambee Stars midfielder Sammy 'Kempes' Owino.

Owino, who made his debut for Harambee Stars at the tender age of 18 in 1978, recently visited Kenya with a group of former national team players.

His objective was to garner support and generate popularity for his bid to oust Mwendwa from the FKF presidency.

During the 2020 FKF elections, Mwachiro formed a formidable team with his running mate, Harold Ndege, a former Kenya international player.

However, their campaign failed to gain substantial traction, as they only managed to secure three votes.

Mwachiro's deliberation regarding his candidacy adds an element of suspense to the already charged atmosphere surrounding the FKF elections.

With his experience at the federation, Mwachiro has a deep understanding of the inner workings of the organization. This knowledge could prove to be a significant asset should he decide to pursue the presidency.

As the football fraternity awaits Mwachiro's final decision, speculations and discussions are rife among fans, pundits, and stakeholders regarding the potential outcome of the elections.

With the FKF presidency being one of the most influential positions in Kenyan football, the stakes are undeniably high, and every move made by the candidates will be closely scrutinized.
