National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) Football Club wrote themselves huge into the history books as they secured a first-ever promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

NEC headed into the Thursday game against Kataka FC needing a victory, with Police FC ready to pounce and grab the third place in case of any lapses.

And the Bugolobi outfit didn't disappoint as they dispatched off Kataka 4-1 at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.

A Julius Walugembe brace and a goal apiece from Tonny Kiberu and Marvin Kavuma ensured they made 57 points.

Meanwhile, the Police, their most significant competitors for the final progression place, drew one-all with Jinja North United at Kavumba.

NEC joins Kitara FC and Mbarara City FC, who finished first and second, with 61 and 60 points, respectively, to the top flight.

Kitara beat Kaaro Karungi FC 1-0, while Mbarara City FC thrashed Northern Gateway SC 3-0 on the season's final day.

It should be noted that NEC only joined the FUFA Big League this campaign, having beaten Water FC in the regional league playoffs last year.
