The French club are reportedly ready to do all they can to sign Osimhen
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to renew their interest in Napoli's star striker, Victor Osimhen, as the Nigerian international is expected to leave the Italian club this summer.
PSG set for new Osimhen negotiations
According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, PSG had previously shown keen interest in Osimhen in 2023 but failed to secure a deal after Napoli rejected two bids exceeding €100 million. However, with Osimhen now potentially on the market, the French champions are looking to reignite negotiations.
Last summer, Napoli were desperate to keep Osimhen after their triumphant Serie A campaign, which saw them clinch their first Scudetto since the 1989/90 season as they sought to maintain their momentum after winning the league.
However, after a disastrous title defense, Napoli's stance has shifted, and they are now open to offers for Osimhen. Despite anticipating interest from Premier League giants like Manchester United and Chelsea, no formal bids have materialised, leaving the door open for PSG to make a move.
PSG unwilling to meet Napoli’s demands
While PSG are eager to bring Osimhen to the Parc des Princes, they face significant challenges in negotiations. Napoli have set a release clause of €130 million for the prolific striker, a figure PSG deem excessive.
L’Équipe reports that the French champions will not activate this clause and will instead attempt to persuade Napoli to lower their asking price. This task has proven difficult in the past, not only with Osimhen but also with Napoli's other star player, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
