The newly promoted side stunned Atalanta on Tuesday despite the Nigerian scoring his second league goal this term.

Cesc Fabregas expressed immense satisfaction after his Como team secured a thrilling 3-2 away win against Atalanta in Bergamo.

Davide Zappacosta opened the scoring after 18 minutes for La Dea only for Gabriel Strefezza, a Saed Kolasinac own goal and Alieu Fadera to make it 3-1 for the away side before Ademola Lookman netted a late penalty to halve the deficit.

It was too little too late for last season's Europa League winners, who fell to their third Serie A loss in five matches.

What Fabregas said

The Spaniard considers Atalanta to be one of the top teams in Europe, making their victory even more significant.

Despite La Dea's late consolation goal, Fabregas was delighted with his team's performance and the confidence boost this victory would bring for the side who notched their first Serie A victory exactly 21 years and four months since their previous one in May 2003.

“We caused difficulties for Kolasinac with Strefezza and on the other side through Alberto Moreno’s runs, said Fabregas about his team’s tactical approach. They go man-to-man but had difficulty with our dribbling. We played vertically to try and exploit the depth.

“We did well in the game. We’re all working well together. This is just the beginning.”
