Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has revealed how John Terry inadvertently ended his career.
Micah Richards has revealed that John Terry's arrival at Aston Villa was the beginning of the end of his footballing career.
Richards had a hugely promising career, making 245 appearances for Manchester City across all competitions, winning a Premier League title and an FA Cup.
However, injuries affected his progress and after a failed loan move to Fiorentina, he moved to Aston Villa on a free transfer in 2015.
He played 28 times in his first season at Villa Park as the club were relegated from the Premier League and after Steve Bruce arrived at the club in 2017, Richards was eager to make a mark.

Richards on how John Terry's arrival at Aston Villa affected him
“Steve Bruce told me he was going to play me regularly that season,” Richards told BBC’s MOTD Top 10 podcast.
“And we signed John Terry. So, it was going to be me on the right side of the back three, John Terry and James Chester.
“Terry basically came to Villa and said “I’m not playing in a three”. So Bruce pulls me aside and he says “well, I have to play Terry and James Chester" so I knew the writing was on the wall then, my time was up.”
