Former Super Eagles captains Mikel Obi and Jay-Jay Okocha, and the current captain of the national team Ahmed Musa have all expressed their sympathies to the victims of the disastrous earthquake in Turkey.

Footballers were not spared either with Ghanaian player Christian Atsu, being earlier trapped beneath the debris for hours before being rescued on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Yeni Matalyaspor Eyup Turkaslan, he was not as lucky.
Mikel, Okocha share heartfelt messages with victims
Reacting to the situation in Turkey, Milkel who had played in the European nation's league in part of his playing career, sent his condolences to the earthquake victims, describing viral videos he seen as heartbreaking.

"My heart breaks seeing videos of the earthquake in Turkey yesterday,” Mikel wrote.
"I am sending my sincere condolences to the people who have lost their loved ones to this very unfortunate incident. May God grant you all the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss."
Okocha who also shared some kind words, wrote: "My thoughts and prayers are with the entire people of Turkey. My condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones.
Super Eagles' captain Ahmed Musa - one of the many Nigerian players in Turkey - also reacted to the situation, with a photo that said, "Pray for Turkey."
Nigerian footballers are safe, NFF says
On Monday evening, the Nigeria Football Federation reacted to the unfortunate incident, adding that no Nigerian players were not among those trapped under rubbles of the earthquake.
"The Nigeria Football Federation is sad about the unfortunate earthquake in Kahramanmaras city of Turkey," the body said on Twitter.
NFF President, Alh. Ibrahim Gusau has reached out to Nigerian players based in Turkey and they have all confirmed that they are fine.
"We pray the souls of the departed rest in peace even as we commiserate with the people of Turkey at this time."
