Ghana edges Nigeria to go to Qatar
In a thrilling two-legged playoff, Ghana secured their place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite Nigeria's strong performance and a penalty goal from William Troost-Ekong.
Ghana's early goal from Thomas Partey after a goalkeeping error from Uzoho proved to be the decisive factor.

Uzoho speaks on his error
The 25-year-old, who currently plies his trade with Cypriot First Division club Omonia Nicosia confirmed that the game is teamwork and no one should be blamed for any mistakes.
He added that he tried his best to save his team in Ghana but they failed to save him in Nigeria by not scoring enough goals.
He said, "I can’t take that responsibility alone, I had a good game in Ghana but we came to Abuja it didn’t go the way we wanted it, trust me I wouldn’t let that ball pass me or I will say because I was afraid, I won’t say that but in football and life.

“We no send their papa” - Displaced Super Eagles keeper Uzoho tells critics
Francis Uzoho has sent a message to his doubters on social media after being displaced by Stanley Nwabali.
"You don’t know when something happened, the mistake happened and it happened but saying I am going to take the responsibility all by myself is a lie.
Football is a team work. When my team failed, I built on them and we kept the score 0-0 and when they came to Abuja it was my turn for my team to bail me out which they did and scored a goal.
"I wouldn’t say I am the only reason we lost the game, if we had scored two goals, it would have been something else, yes I have a share and I have always accepted the fact," he said on Home of Nigerian Football podcast.
Uzoho has subsequently lost his place in Nigeria's squad and was absent during the Super Eagles qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda earlier this month.
