With an impressive inaugural season behind them, Lugazi FC is poised to make an assertive push for promotion, a goal that is shared with their newest recruit.

Savio Kabugo has disclosed that he will carry along the ‘the lessons and wisdom’ he has attained over the course of his long and demanding career and apply them at new club Lugazi FC.

Kabugo joined the Leaders on a one-year renewable contract after a significant time out of active football, since leaving Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy last year.

The defender who reached the final of the Bika bya Baganda tournament with his clan aims to help his new club climb to the pinnacle of Ugandan football from the Bet Pawa FUFA Big League.

This is not a light transfer in my life,” Kabugo disclosed shortly after the move was announced by the club.

“I discussed with my family before accepting this great move and for sure it's the best decision we have made to join the ever green Lugazi FC.”

"The path that led me here has been a long and challenging one. I have faced adversaries on the field, shared moments of triumph."

“It's through these experiences that I have grown both as a player and as a person. And now, I bring those lessons, that wisdom, to this incredible club,” he added.

With an impressive inaugural season in the Big League behind them, Lugazi FC is poised to make an assertive push for promotion, a goal that is shared with their newest recruit.

The Leaders came tantalizingly close to securing promotion to the first division, Lugazi is now determined to make a deliberate push for success in the upcoming season.

Despite falling just 13 points short of qualification, they finished their first campaign in sixth position, amassing a commendable 44 points from 30 matches.

"The moment I became aware of Lugazi's ambitions, the club's determination to chase promotion, it became crystal clear to me that this is where I belong," he said.

"I have already had the pleasure of meeting my new teammates, and I must say, it's a formidable squad filled with talent, ambition, and hunger for success."

Kabugo's storied career has seen him don the jerseys of esteemed Ugandan clubs such as SC Victoria University, SC Villa, KCCA, URA FC, and Proline.

Beyond the borders of Uganda, he has had spells at, AS Vita in DR Congo, and Ethiopia's Sebeta FC.

Kabugo extended a deep promise to the club fans, saying; "You will witness a player who leaves his heart and soul on the field, a relentless fighter.”

“A defender who will give his all to protect our colors, and a leader who will carry the responsibility of our legacy with unwavering pride," he assured.

Lugazi FC has been active in the primary transfer window, and have acquired Latif Kiyemba, Sam Ssemugugu, Ronald Ssempala, Alvin Birungi, Freedom Mungudit, James Okiror, Abraham Opio, Mubarak Mitala, Andrew Odong and Samuel Nsubuga.

Brian Elijah Ssali, Paul Wasswa, Louis Anguti, Derrick Ochen, Muhammad Lubega, Isaac Tamale and Faisal Matovu have signed new contracts.

Lugazi FC's new season commences with a home game against Ndejje University on September 29th.
