Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino tells fans ‘it will take time’ to see improvement
Mauricio Pochettino has said that his team needs time after their shocking loss to Nottingham Forest.
He completed a move to City Ground this summer for a reported €17.50 million fee and has hit the ground running.
What Elanga said
Elanga came on as a first-half substitute on his Premier League debut for Forest, replacing the injured Danilo.
He impacted the match within only five minutes of coming on, running onto a through pass by Taiwo Awoniyi before finishing calmly past Robert Sanchez.
Speaking about the telling impact he had after the match, Elanga attributed his goal to confidence.
He explained that he needed to play games to gain confidence, something he did not think he had at Manchester United.
"I want to score goals, and as soon as I saw Taiwo [Awoniyi] pass the ball, I just wanted to attack the space. I know where the goal is, so it was about keeping my composure and hitting it low and quick,” he said, per the BBC.
"I need to play to build my confidence. I didn't get to do that much at United, but now that I am here, I feel like I have the confidence of the manager, and now hopefully these opportunities will turn into starts and more goals and assists.”
