Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola took a swing at his earliest critics.
Pep Guardiola has been in his boastful element in the last week, and in a recent press conference, he had words for his critics who doubted his ability to replicate his success for Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the Premier League.

Dominant Pep
With six league titles in seven years (3-in-4 for Barcelona, 3-in-3 for Bayern Munich), Guardiola was on top of the world and was already getting touted as the best in his generation and even beyond.
But he was not without his critics, who did not want to crown Guardiola until he proved himself in the British Isles because they thought the Premier League, the world's most watched league, was also the most competitive.
He took the challenge in 2016 when he joined the Cityzens. After an underwhelming first season that had loudened his critics, Pep went on the win six of the next seven league titles (including the last four consecutively).
What Guardiola said
After the historic fourth straight Premier League title last season, Manchester City were primed to extend their record this campaign to five. However, they have had a dismal season so far and only recently ended a run of seven games in which they lost six times and failed to win.
Seemingly flustered, Guardiola gestured the number of Premier League titles he had won to Liverpool fans in one of those six defeats. He has now continued on that braggadocious line by reminding those who suggested he would fail in the Premier League that he is now one of the most successful managers in the competition's history.
“I remember many people said: He wins because he’s in Barcelona with Leo Messi and the other ones,” Guardiola said. “He has to prove in England. Ok! We did it.”
