‘Man Utd can still win that league’ - Mourinho on Red Devils chances of winning first EPL since Ferguson’s exit
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has spoken on the chances of the Red Devils winning their first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s exit.
However, the perception of him steadily dipped in the last years of his most recent Premier League stint, as he was sacked at Old Trafford and by the Lilywhites, following a string of bad results.
He has since gone on to coach AS Roma in the Serie A, and now he finds himself in Turkey, signalling a steep fall from the elite level he once was. Still, Jose desires a return to the English top flight.
What Mourinho said
After failing to clinch UCL qualifications through the playoffs, Mourinho was saddled with winning Europa's second-tier competition for the third time in his career.
After a win against Union Saint-Gilloise and a draw against Twente, Mourinho's Fenerbahce will host Manchester United at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
The 61-year-old hailed his former club, as he believes them to be better than their results in recent years, before revealing his desire to return to the Premier League.
"Maybe you think I am bluffing or playing mind games," Mourinho said. "They [United] have a better team than their results show.
“We watch everything; there is work there and sooner or later they will succeed. Hopefully sooner and hopefully before I go back to the Premier League."
