Former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) is back to his boyhood club Sports Club Villa five months after retiring from the force.
Kasingye retired in September last year at the rank of AIGP and was as well serving as the chairman of Police FC. He was welcomed by the Villa fraternity led by Club president Omar Mandela earlier in the week on his return.
“I’m back home,” the jolly Kasingye said as he revealed the circumstances that forced him to switch his allegiance to his employer.
“I was with the club until the year 2000 when I was called by the then Inspector General of Police John Kisembo. He called me to help Police manage Police FC because the person who was managing had become the president of FUFA,” Kasingye said.
While at Police, the decorated former cop guided the club to its best moments winning the Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Club Championship in 2005 and 2006. On both occasions, dethroning his SC Villa.
“I became the chairman after a few years after that but we worked so hard and won the league. You remember Police won the league in 2005 and the following year went to Dar Es Salaam and won CECAFA.”
Kasingye was also in charge of Police during its worst moments when they were relegated from the topflight last season after 27 years in the league.- it was not revealed whether the highly-rated figure will be given some responsibilities at the club.
