The Liverpool boss watched his side play out a drab draw against Graham Potter’s men on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised his team’s performance in their 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men were unable to break down a well-organised Chelsea side at Anfield. Liverpool went into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over Wolves in the FA Cup replay, but looked lethargic in their clash against the Blues.

Klopp happy with Liverpool clean sheet

The Reds failed to create clear chances in a match that lacked real action. But despite their uninspiring performance, Klopp was satisfied with his players’ effort.

"We have to be ready for little steps and this is a little step. A clean sheet against Chelsea, we didn't create a lot of chances and they had some as well,” Klopp said after the game as per BBC.

Chelsea and Liverpool played out a goalless draw at Anfield

“ We defended in the second half with passion and clear organisation, but we were too deep in these moments. In the end, I'm okay with 0-0 because you have to accept these steps.

"We can build on that. Both teams were very aggressive,” he added.

Potter shares Klopp's view

Meanwhile, Chelsea missed the chance to build on their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace after a poor run of form. The Blues started brightly in the game and thought they had taken the lead after Kai Havertz fired home from close range in the fourth minute.

Kai Havertz saw an early goal ruled out for offside

However, the goal was chalked off for offside following a VAR review. Chelsea had the major share of the possession in the game, but failed to threaten Liverpool’s goal.

Still, Potter was satisfied with his side’s performance, although he felt they were unlucky with Havertz’s goal that was chalked off. The former Brighton manager also expressed his delight with another clean sheet which came at a place like Anfield.

Graham Potter praised Chelsea's performance against Liverpool

"I thought the performance was good. Happy with the team, the energy, what we tried to do. At Anfield, it is always tough. It is a clean sheet and a point, we move forward,” Potter said.

"First half, we were decent, unlucky not to get the goal. It is what it is. They started the second half well, and we adjusted a couple of things and gained control, had a couple of chances. Overall, a positive day, apart from the fact we wanted three points."

Chelsea’s big money signing in January, Mykhaylo Mudryk, came on in the second half to make his debut. While he did show glimpses of his quality, the 22-year-old failed to make an impact on the game.

Nonetheless, Potter was satisfied with the player’s performance, saying he will come good.

"He's not played football for a while, he's been on a mid-season break. We had to manage his minutes, but you can see his quality,” Potter added.

Chelsea return to Premier League action next month when they take on West Ham next month.
