Olunga managed to score having come off the bench, but it came at a cost as he had to limp off again after just 21 minutes.
Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga continued to write history as Al Duhail’s record Asian Champions League goalscorer, coming off the bench to score the winning goal against Persepolis on Tuesday night.
Although he did score, it did come at a cost as he had to be subbed off again in stoppage time after picking up an injury and had to be replaced by Mohamed Al Naimi.
Al Duhail finished the group third on seven points, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr won the group with 14 points. Persepolis finished second in the group despite defeat.

STARS ABROAD Tera, Nondi record win in Armenia to keep title hopes alive
Tera started and featured for 59 minutes, before his fellow Kenyan Nondi came on for him for the rest of the match.
With 10 minutes remaining, the referee pointed to the penalty spot after Mohammad Omri was brought down in box but Persepolis defender Giorgi Gvelesiani missed the penalty.
Three minutes later, substitute Olunga silenced the stadium with a left-footed shot that nestled the back of the net.
In his 21 minutes on the pitch, however, he managed to get a goal from just nine touches of the ball, having made four successful passes.
Prior to the match on Tuesday, Olunga had taken his Champions League tally to 18 for Al Duhail last week when he scored twice as they beat FC Istiklol of Tajikistan 2-0.
His goal now means he has 19 goals in the Champions League for the club.
