The Nigerian is set to experience his third manager at AC Milan, with another Portuguese coach expected to be appointed imminently.
Samuel Chukwueze will get a third head coach at AC Milan after Paulo Fonseca was sacked on Sunday, December 29, after the Rossoneri’s 1-1 draw with Roma.
Fonseca’s torrid Milan spell
Fonseca joined Milan in June on a three-year deal, replacing Stefano Pioli. He arrived from Lille with high expectations, but failed to deliver consistent results, with the Rossoneri winning 12 of his 24 matches in charge of the club, losing six and drawing as many.
Milan currently sit eighth in Serie A, eight points adrift of the Champions League places, having drawn six of their league matches this season.
Their most recent draw, a 1-1 stalemate against Roma on Sunday, proved to be the final straw for the club's hierarchy.
Fonseca's dismissal comes despite Milan's continued participation in the Champions League, where they currently occupy 12th place in the league phase table and are on course for a place in the knockout play-offs.

Who will replace Fonseca at Milan?
According to growing reports in Italy, former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao is expected to be appointed imminently by the Italian giants.
The Portuguese won 11 trophies with the Dragons, including three Primeira Liga titles, before departing in the summer of 2024.
His first match could be against Juventus on January 3.
What next for Chukwueze?
Chukwueze suffered a setback in Milan’s draw with Roma, going off injured on the hour with a suspected hamstring injury.
The extent of the problem is yet to be determined, but the Nigerian looked in visible discomfort as he left the pitch on Sunday.
With Milan already without Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah and Noah Okafor, Chukwueze’s seeming issue is a blow for the Rossoneri.
