Inter Milan vice president Javier Zanetti revealed his preferred finalist between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Inter Milan have booked their ticket to Istanbul after beating Milan 3-0 over two legs. They wait to see who they face in the finals, with Real Madrid and Manchester City playing the deciding tie of their double-header tomorrow; however, Inter Executive Javier Zanetti has revealed who he would rather face.
The former defender, now the club's vice president, was part of the last Inter squad to reach the Champions League final and eventually win it in the 2009/10 season. He was elated about his team returning to the final after 13 years and has revealed his preferred matchup.
What Zanetti said
The former Argentina international spoke to Sky Italia after the 1-0 win against Milan tonight, when he mentioned who he preferred qualifies for the final between the second set of semi-finalists going head-to-head tomorrow.
Zanetti suggested he would like Pep Guardiola's side to reach the final, as he wants to avoid Real Madrid, whom he believes are made for the competition.
“It is a great opportunity to return to the Champions League final after 13 years,” He said, per GetfootballnewsItaly.
“Who would I rather face? I would like to avoid Real Madrid; this competition seems made for them. But now we’re here, it’s been a long journey .
“A derby in the semi-final is difficult, it happened to me too and I lost it. That time Costacurta was among the first to greet me at the end of the game and there is always sportsmanship with Milan.”
Meanwhile, Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have been nominated for places in the Serie A team of the Season for 2022/23.
