Raja Casablanca conceded their first goal in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League group stages but became the first team to qualify following a 3-1 win over Horoya in Guinea.
The Moroccans have been blazing hot both home and away ghosting through Vipers, Simba and now Horoya twice to book their berth and remain the only invincible side in the competition.
Walid Sabbar opened the game as early as the sixth minute as the visitors enjoyed the comfort of an empty away ground in Guinea’s neighbouring March 26 stadium, in Bamako Mali.
Horoya saw their plans dashed after goalkeeper Moussa Camara was sent off after handling the ball outside his area in the 26th minute but the numbers were balanced deep in the half when Raja’s Jamal Harkass was given a red for a clumsy tackle on Paye Camara.
However, despite the balance, the Moroccans were outstanding with two more goals by Mohammed Nahiri and Sabbar that reduced Pape N’Diaye’s 70th-minute goal to a mere consolation.
Raja became the first team to hit the 12-point mark and secured a place in the quarterfinal. They need a point from the remaining games to consolidate the top spot.
Simba’s 1-0 win over Vipers sent them to second with six points, two ahead of Horoya while Vipers remain bottom of Group C with one.
