Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has cast doubts on the narrative that the club has improved from the past seasons.
While they occupy a better position on the table (fourth) this season than the last campaign when they finished sixth, they are still not confident of a Champions League finish after successive losses to Brighton and West Ham.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have won the League Cup and are in the FA Cup final, where they will take on nemesis Manchester City.
United suffered more defeats this season than they did under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his two full seasons in charge (eight in 2019-20 and six in 2020-21), and Yorke feels it should be talked about.
"Erik ten Hag losing nine games in the Premier League does raise some issues," Yorke said while speaking to King Casino Bonus.

"If you are a Manchester United manager, you will always be scrutinized for little details or mistakes. So there's nowhere to hide," Yorke added.
He also noted: "Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a better record than Ten Hag in his full two seasons managing the club, and people talk about the progress we've made and the better style of football being played."
"Manchester United have reached the FA Cup final, won the Carabao Cup and made it far in the Europa League, so that is progress, but Ten Hag losing more Premier League games than Solskjaer in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons has to be called out."
"The results have not been good enough this season; Manchester United are looking over their shoulder and are desperately trying to hold onto fourth place. I don't know where the club wants to be.
"Ten Hag gets the praise when the team is playing well, and he has to take the criticism when it goes wrong, too," Yorke said.
Solskjaer, in his two full seasons, helped the club to third and second place but failed to deliver a trophy, having lost the 2021 Europa League final to Villarreal.
The Norwegian would later get dismissed in November 2021 as he picked just 17 points from the opening 12 games of the 2021-22 season.
Currently, United, in fourth, are only one point ahead of Liverpool in the race for Champions League football next season, but the former boasts a game in hand.
