The club lost their top scorer Karim Ndugwa to Vipers in the January transfer season, and it had to take Isabirye's convincing to lure Samuel Kayongo Ssekamate to BUL.
Coach Alex Isabirye was upset after BUL's unconvincing 1-all draw against Blacks Power on Saturday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League but picked one positive.
The club lost their top scorer Karim Ndugwa to Vipers in the January transfer season, and it had to take Isabirye's convincing to lure Samuel Kayongo Ssekamate to BUL.
Ssekamate spent one and half years at Arua Hill, scoring a paltry three goals before crossing over.
However, he looked reinvigorated on Friday, scoring a goal and two other attempts that the visiting keeper Emmanuel Odongo saved to earn him the man of the match.
"I am happy that he scored on his debut, but I think he can do better than that," Isabirye said of his new acquisition.
First, Ssekamate ran through to find Douglas Muganga's pass to tip in with his left in the 35th minute to cancel Dickens Okwir's goal.
He had two more clear-cut chances in the second half, but the keeper pulled his best saves. Nevertheless, Isabirye believes the striker will fill the void left by Ndugwa.
"We will work hard and see that he improves and scores regularly. I have known him since he was 17 years and understand his strengths. However, we need to give him more time and chances to score regularly."
