The coach departed the club shortly after sealing their progress to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 with a 1-0 victory over SC Villa on Saturday.

BUL FC’s chairman Ronald Barente has blessed Alex Isabirye’s move to Vipers saying that the coach delivered beyond expectations.

The coach departed the club shortly after sealing their progress to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 with a 1-0 victory over SC Villa on Saturday,

“Coach Alex Isabirye gave us everything we asked him to do and more. Whatever strategy we had, he has accomplished 85 percent,” Barente told Pulse Sports.

Prodigal son

Isabirye first joined BUL on July 2015 on a two-year contract but unceremoniously left after a disagreement with the club management led by former chairman Silver Alias and chief executive officer Salmin Saleh.

He returned again in May 2021 to save the club from a dreaded chop after a poor run under Arthur Kyesimira.

He spiced it up by taking the club to its best-ever achievement by reaching the Stanbic Uganda Cup final where they lost 8-1 to Vipers. The coach was rewarded with a two-year contract which he repaid back with the Cup last season.

“He started off when the team was really struggling and worked with us for about three years and we’re satisfied with his work.

Continuity

Barente has calmed fears that the team could deteriorate after his exit. He says that among the tasks Isabirye accomplished was to put in place a well-oiled machine that will continue functioning even after his departure.

“He has done well in promoting several youngsters from the junior ranks to the senior team as part of our long-term strategy. He left in place a system in the technical wing that will ensure continuity like we had asked him to do,” the soft-spoken engineer added.

The club has handed Simeone Masaba the mantle to take the team forward for the remaining part of the season.
