Vipers SC coach Alex Isabirye has stated that victory over Express at the St. Mary’s Stadium perfectly swings the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race fully in their favour.
The Venoms thrashed the Red Eagles 5-2 in Kitende to maintain their grip at the top of the league with two games left to play.
Isabirye has seen a turn around at the club, since taking over in March, after Beto Bianchi’s short tenure that saw him fail to win any of his eight games in charge.
"When I joined this team, it had gone several games without winning and they struggled to score,” Isabirye told journalists after the game.
“That changed and now we are top of the league with two games left and I believe we have tried to improve as a team.”
“This victory against Express means a lot to our journey of winning the title," Isabirye said.
"Now we have to win the remaining games to make sure we achieve our goal. It has not been easy but we have tried to do a lot to achieve it."

Express returned energized and grabbed their second of the evening, with Marvin Oshaba scoring in an empty net as the Venoms failed to clear a corner.
After a period of pressure from the visitors, it's the hosts that added to their tally, with substitute Cromwell Rwothomio beating bodies after a Kariisa ball, to net past Kimera in the 81st minute.
Four minutes later Rwothomio added another after brilliant work from Karim Watambala.
Vipers remain in tight race for the title that seems will go down to the wire with rivals KCCA FC and SC Villa all winning their respective games to stay level on 49 points, with only goal difference separating the top three.
Allan Okello’s penalty helped KCCA to a 1-0 victory over BUL FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, while Villa picked up a crucial 2-0 win over UPDF at Bombo.
Vipers visit BUL FC in their penultimate game of the season, before hosting Busoga United in their final game of the season.
KCCA visit Busoga United next, and then host Soltilo Bright Stars on the final day of the season, while SC Villa plays Blacks Power and URA FC in their final games of the season.
