The Young Africans in-form forward has issued a rallying call to the fans after his side lost 2-1 to USM Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg on Sunday in Dar-es-Salaam.

Fiston Mayele has always got them out of jail on several occasions, and when he speaks, they listen.

The Young Africans in-form forward has issued a rallying call to the fans after his side lost 2-1 to USM Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg on Sunday in Dar-es-Salaam.

The ‘vibrator’ who scored Young Africans’ consolation says the team still has ninety minutes to go in Algeria, and they are ready to give it everything to win the game.

“There are still 90 minutes left in Algeria; we are going to fight for this jersey.” Mayele tweeted on his official handle.

Young Africans went a goal down in the 32nd minute when Aymen Mahious rose highest to nod home Brahim Benzaza’s freekick, but the home side responded with eight minutes to go.

Mayele brilliantly controlled Yahya Mudathir’s header to smash home at the near post and level the game 1-1. Still, Alger re-took the lead two minutes later with a good counter-attack which Islam Merili finished off.

Mayele has been in terrific form; his goal on Sunday moved him to seven, making him the top scorer in the interclub competition this season.

He also scored 16 league goals as ‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi’ retained the NBC Premier League.

Nabbi Nasreddine’s side will now have to score twice and avoid conceding to become the first Tanzanian and East African side to win their maiden CAF Confederation Cup title.

The second leg will take place on 3rd June in Algeria.
