Foden grabbed an early lead for Manchester City in the 7th minute of the game, but the second did not come until the 74th minute, with Foden getting his brace. Kevin de Bruyne wrapped up the scoring in the 81st minute of the game to give the visitors a comfortable 3-0 victory.

However, the manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, believed the game was tough for his boys despite the scoreline, suggesting Bristol City were at their best today.

"It was really tough. Bristol [City] showed us how good they can be," Pep told ITV, per the BBC.

"I was impressed by some players, I didn't know them. The second half was much better.

"Incredible fans at Bristol. We came here five years ago in the Carabao Cup and it was amazing. I remember it perfectly."

The Spanish manager also spoke about the star man of the day, Phil Foden, for whom he predicted a stellar run towards the end of the season.

He said Foden was back to his best after struggling at the start of the season, and he praised his dynamism, rhythm and work rate during the match.

"Dynamic, rhythm, work rate, his quality. His career was always up, up, up. This season he struggled a bit and was a bit down. But now he's back for the best bit of the season.

"His impact has been amazing. Football pays off when you work like he does."

'It was quite tight' - Phil Foden

Foden was in agreement with his manager, saying the scoreline did not tell the true story of the game. He believed the match was stiffly contested, and Bristol City put up a big challenge.

"I don't think it was 3-0 game it was quite tight. The game was a big challenge, they went man-to-man at times and we struggled to win individual duels. In the end our quality shone through."

He also speaks about his season, explaining that the discomfort he was having in his feet, which kept him on the sidelines, made him frustrated, calling it one of the worst parts of his career. But he believes it is over now as he feels better and is more comfortable

"I feel much better with my feet. I feel 100% fit now and comfortable. [It has] Been one of the worst parts of my career but everyone goes through them and it is how you react. Discomfort in my feet and not playing as much. I love to play football and when I don't I am a bit frustrated.

In terms of Manchester City's ambitions this season, Foden revealed that the FA Cup is on the club's agenda, as they have not won it since the 2018/19 season.

"We haven't won the FA Cup for a while so it is something we have been speaking about and we want to go far and try and win it. The last two games have been brilliant and we look like we are making a step forward now. Hopefully we keep up this form and finish the season strong."

Manchester City are on Premier League duty next when they host Eddie Howe's Newcastle United over the weekend.
