Victor Osimhen has been linked to Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG this summer but John Obi Mikel knows where the Napoli striker will end up
Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has given an educated guess of where compatriot Victor Osimhen will spend his next few years amidst reports linking the Napoli striker to Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Mikel tips Osimhen to make Premier League move
After leading Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years and winning the CAF Player of the Year award in 2023, Osimhen has been on the radar of top clubs and is widely expected to leave the Partenopei this summer, with strong interest from Chelsea, PSG, and Arsenal.
The Nigerian striker is reportedly close to an agreement with Chelsea, while PSG might be tempted to make a new approach after an injury to star forward Goncalo Ramos, but former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel believes he already knows where Osimhen is headed.
Speaking on BeinSports, the Champions League winner with Chelsea said, “I think it’s 60/40 in favour that Osimhen comes [to Chelsea], I think so, he wants to come.
Mikel influencing Osimhen decision
The former Nigeria international also revealed his role in convincing Osimhen to make the move to Chelsea, adding, “I sent a few text messages here and there, told him that is a great club and city, he would like to follow in the footsteps of other Nigerians to play for Chelsea.”
In addition to Mikel, Chelsea has also been home to other Super Eagles stars, including Celestine Babayaro and Victor Moses, who both had successful careers at Stamford Bridge.
Osimhen is currently reported to be closest to joining Chelsea this summer in a potential cash-plus player exchange that will see both Romelu Lukaku and Cesare Casadei move to Napoli.
