Man City 1 vs 2 Man Utd: Amorim reveals why he left Rashford and Garnacho at home
Ruben Amorim has stated why his squad selection for the epic clash against City didn't include some key players.
In recent weeks, Manchester City, known for their recent dominance in English football, have experienced an unexpected series of losses, raising concerns among fans and Premier League followers.
Answering questions from Pulse Sports Nigeria during a Zoom call organised by LaLiga ahead of the match between Leganes and Barcelona, Nastasic commented on the current situation, describing it as "a bit strange."
He noted the team's struggles, particularly given their previous success under Guardiola.
"I am following and watching the games and of course for everybody may be a bit strange that Man City lost many games in the last period because, in the past years, we are not used to it," Nastasic stated.
He acknowledged that injuries and a hectic schedule have contributed to the team's difficulties.
"They have top-quality players, and maybe at the moment, with a lot of injuries and problems—playing so many games in three days—it’s not so easy."
Despite these challenges, the 31-year-old remains optimistic about City's prospects under Guardiola.
"As we saw last year, how they played with Pep [Guardiola], I am sure that they will bounce back. Maybe beginning of the new year they will start again to have good results and show their best performance," he added.
The Serbian, who came on as a substitute in Leganes’ shock win against Barcelona, also emphasised that even the best teams can experience rough patches.
Guardiola's current situation is unprecedented for a manager who has led City to multiple titles over the years. His recent admission that he is "not good enough" as a manager after another disappointing defeat against Manchester United has raised questions about his future at the club.
Nonetheless, Nastasic's support reflects a belief that Guardiola's experience and tactical acumen will ultimately guide City back to form.
