Manchester City’s struggles
The Spanish tactician is in his worst run as a football manager as Manchester City have only won once in the last nine games.
Of those matches, they only picked up a draw twice, suffering six defeats, five of which came in succession. They seemed to have escaped the rut midweek when Kevin De Bruyne’s return from injury inspired them to a 3-0 rout of high-flying Nottingham Forest.
However, the win now seems to be a blip in a longer trend of poor results, as it was followed by a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in which they were lucky to avoid defeat.
What Guardiola said
Speaking after the match about his team's struggles, the former Barcelona man seemed to have resigned himself to the reality that they will not be defending their title for the fourth consecutive time this season.
"It’s a season to suffer. We cannot talk about Premier League title race when we lose four games in a row and draw,” Guardiola said.
"We had seven potential starting eleven players injured, and a lot of players with minutes… we take the point vs Palace, it's fine".
