Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi revealed why Chelsea are signing many players.
Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has suggested that the club are anticipating a transfer ban, hence their current strategy of stacking players.
The Blues, since the inception of BlueCo as new owners, have moved aggressively in the transfer market. They have stacked up on young players—expensive ones at that—and have created a bloated squad.

Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi warns of Chelsea doom under Enzo Maresca
Chelsea favourite John Obi Mikel has already lost faith in manager Enzo Maresca ahead of the new campaign
This strategy has been criticised by many, including Mikel himself, but in a recent TV appearance, he provided some insight as to why the club are acquiring so many players.
What Mikel said
The 38-year-old continued his appearance on Bein Sports' Premier League opening weekend broadcast this Sunday, when, as a former player of the club, he was asked about the club's activity in the transfer market.
The former Middlesbrough man saw the humour in the situation as he joked about a scenario in which Enzo Maresca is unfamiliar with some of his players.
He went on to say that a transfer ban could be imminent for Chelsea, and their aggressive approach to the transfer market is their way of preparing for the drought.
“There is a strategy to that I've heard,” Mikel said. When asked if it's about an impending ban, he said, “I think so, yes probably. That's why we are stocking up all these players to make sure if there is eventually a ban on the club, we’ll have players to sustain us for two or three seasons.
