What happened
Less than two months after the Ondo-born forward escaped a near-death experience: a car crash, the Nigerian has been involved in another instance of reckless driving.
Boniface was pictured using his phone while driving above the speed limit, an incident that has sparked criticism.
The Ondo-born forward was driving 140 km/h on a 120 km/h speed limit strip while also going through his phone, seemingly checking Bayer Leverkusen's Instagram posts, according to a report from Bild.
What Alonso said
Speaking in the press conference ahead of their clash against Union Berlin, Alonso has stern words for Boniface.
“I don’t like it; it’s obviously not good, and of course, it’s not allowed to happen,” Alondo said. “I haven’t seen Boni, but he knows it’s not allowed. We have to tell him he’s not allowed to do something like this.”
The Nigerian is currently injured, hence the reason Alonso has not seen him since the incident, as he said. The 23-year-old suffered a thigh injury during the international break and has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
