Southgate steps down from England job after EURO 2024 failure
Southgate was heavily criticised throughout his time as England boss with many believing he should have gotten more from this group of players
He was under contract with the FA until the end of this year, although there was reportedly a desire to see him continue beyond the EUROs regardless of the result against Spain.
England stumbled to the final but were ultimately undone against a much better side, something that has been a long-running criticism levied at Southgate throughout his time.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has refused to defend Southgate amid heavy criticism.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty TV, Jose said: "The criticism is more than acceptable because when you look at France and especially England, they have the best players in the world.
"This means coaches have to be ready for criticism which is part of the job at the highest level."
