The striker has scored 20 goals in 33 league appearances this season.
Brentford forward Ivan Toney has been banned from football for eight months after he admitted breaching Football Association betting rules.
The striker has also been charged £50,000 after he broke 232 of the FA's betting rules.
"His [Toney] sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission following a personal hearing," FA said in a statement.
"The independent Regulatory Commission's written reasons for these sanctions will be published in due course, and the FA will wait to review them before commenting further."
Brentford have also released a statement but said they are awaiting the publication judgement by the FA before taking the next step.
"Brentford FC note the decision of an independent Regulatory Commission to issue an eight-month ban from all football and football-related activity to Ivan Toney with immediate effect," read a statement by Brentford.
"Ivan was charged with breaches of FA Rule E8 and had a personal hearing earlier this week.
"Brentford FC are currently awaiting the publication of the written reasons of the independent Regulatory Commission. We will review them before considering our next steps."

Taiwo Awoniyi and teammates left fuming after late VAR call denies Forest crucial point
Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has revealed his players were left fuming after the VAR decision that allowed Brentford to score a late winner against his relegation-threatened side.
Toney’s suspension will start immediately, but he can return to training with Brentford four months before it ends on September 17. The 27-year-old will not be allowed to play again until January 17, 2024.
The suspension means he will not be available for Brentford’s match against Tottenham on Saturday or the last game of the season against Manchester City on May 28.
