Iwobi, who has started every game for Fulham this season, provided the assist for the team’s second goal.
His perfectly timed pass allowed Emile Smith Rowe to find the back of the net, despite a deflection off Newcastle's goalkeeper Nick Pope.
Iwobi beats Kanu’s Premier League record
Iwobi’s assist for Smith Rowe’s goal meant that the former Arsenal and Everton man became the Nigerian player with the most assists in Premier League history, notching his 30th assist in the competition against Newcastle.
The Super Eagles star beat the record previously set by Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu, who recorded 29 assists during his time with Arsenal, West Brom, and Portsmouth in the Premier League.
In his career so far, Iwobi has provided 30 assists for teammates while playing for Arsenal. Everton, and now Fulham since his Premier League debut in 2015.
