The Seagulls were off the back of an impressive victory against Manchester United when they hosted Everton at the AMEX. Their cornered visitors proved capable of the spectacular, breezing past Roberto de Zerbi's side.

How it happened

Brighton had the bulk of the ball, but Everton defended resolutely and broke efficiently.

The visitors started how they meant to go on and scored in the very first minute of the game when Dominic Calvert-Lewin connected with an Abdoulaye Doucoure delivery.

The hosts played their way into the game but were hit with another incisive counter, Doucoure went from provider to scorer, doubling the Toffees advantage in the 29th minute. It became three soon enough after Jason Steele turned the ball into his own goal around the 35th-minute mark.

Probably the pick of the bunch, Alex Iwobi picked out Dwight McNeil in transition, and the winger floored his marker in a show of composure before finishing into an empty goal.

Brighton managed to pull one back when Kaoru Mitoma played MacAllister through, but it was Everton who had the final say on the scoreline thanks to a late Dwight McNeil goal.

The win takes Sean Dyche's men up to 16th, two points above the drop, while Brighton suffers a blow in their fight for European places.
