The 53 year-old insists he has built a huge name and brand that he jealously protects and thus, he can't settle for less.

Former KCCA FC head coach and legend Jackson Mayanja has underlined he can never take up a role as a deputy coach to anyone at a Ugandan club.

The 53 year-old insists he has built a huge name and brand that he jealously protects and thus, he can't settle for less.

"I cannot work as an assistant coach in Uganda at the club level," Mayanja said in an interview with Pulse Sports Uganda.

He made the revelations in the aftermath of KCCA's appointment of a foreign coach and deputy; Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil and Luis Manuel Guerreiro, respectively.

"In Uganda, I can only be an assistant at the senior national team. Unless it's outside the country but here, I can't work for a club as someone else's deputy," he added.

Mayanja's statements come in time after earlier reports had claimed the club was targeting to keep him as assistant. That was before they eventually settled for Guerreiro.

"People may misquote me but in truth I'm okay with the decisions the club made because all I want is to see KCCA progress," the tactician added.

"KCCA is my club, it's home. So, if they thought that's the best decision, I'm okay with it, but there's no way I can work as an assistant in Uganda," he reiterated.

This also comes at a time when another former KCCA head coach, Morley Byekwaso, joined SC Villa as deputy for Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic.

"Everyone has their level and make their own decisions. But for me, even for a club I love as much as KCCA, it's not possible to work for them as an assistant," Mayanja asserted.

"Otherwise I respect the decisions the club took because I love KCCA. You never know what may happen in the future: I am the definition of KCCA."

Mayanja's most recent role as a deputy was in Rwanda, as he worked with Mike Mutebi who was head coach at AS Kigali.

'Mia Mia,' who has worked with KCCA over two spells, has also previously worked as head coach at URA FC, Bunamwaya FC, Kagera FC, Kyetume FC and the Uganda Cranes as a deputy.
