Gabriel Jesus has revealed he was disappointed after Mikel Arteta decided to substitute him in Arsenal's 4-1 Premier League win over Leeds United.
The former Manchester City forward made an impressive return as he scored a brace, with the Gunners winning to maintain an eight-point gap.
It was Jesus’ first Premier League game since November, as a knee injury – suffered in Qatar while with Brazil in the World Cup finals – sidelined him since then.
His first goal – his first for club and country in 17 games - came from the spot kick before he registered the second in the 55th minute before he was hauled off five minutes later.
Jesus opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, his first goal in 17 games for club and country, and netted his second from close range shortly before Mikel Arteta decided to end his afternoon prematurely.

Given his goal output so far, he was expected to play in the crucial duel.
"Like every player, you never disrespect the manager. The Mr, Mikel knows how much I appreciate him and how much I respect him and the team as well," Jesus told the club’s website after starring on his return.
"Obviously, every player wants to play the full 90 minutes, and I think I’m ready to play more, but when the referee came and said, 'You’re going out’ I was a little bit disappointed because I wanted to play.
"But of course, I respect the mister and respect the other players as well. So it was just 60 minutes, but I enjoyed it a lot."
Meanwhile, Arteta praised his No. 9 for the impact he had on the game.
"I’m delighted for him," the Spaniard said.
"They were all clapping for him, and he’s been working so hard the last four or five months with a lot of support obviously from the team and the staff.
"He deserved the chance to start, and he grabbed the opportunity with a lot of conviction and scored two very important goals."
