Bandari were gunning for the title in March but have struggled for good form since.

Bandari FC head coach John Baraza has attributed his team's disappointing end to the FKF Premier League season to a series of injuries that have sidelined key players.

The Coastal side have endured a poor run of form over the past three months, failing to secure a win since their last victory on March 9 against champions Gor Mahia, courtesy of a Fidel Origa goal.

In the nine matches since, Bandari have drawn six and lost three, earning only six points out of a possible 27. This downturn in form has seen them fall out of the title race, despite having been strong contenders earlier in the season.

“The season has not been that bad but some things have been beyond us as a technical bench,” Baraza told the media after their latest match.

He explained that the injuries to key players had severely impacted their performance. “We went through a good run of form, but injuries to key players forced our hands. Some of those players were bonafide starters and it affected us but many might find it difficult to understand that.”

Bandari have had to cope without the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Derrick Nsibambi, and Sharrif Majabe for much of the season. These absences have prevented Baraza from fielding his best 11, contributing to the team's inconsistent performances.

“Generally, the season has been good but injuries are part of the game. Some have taken over 10 months to heal, including Sharif (Majabe) and even Derrick who went through a setback, but that is what affected us the most,” Baraza elaborated.

He emphasised that while the team had aimed to compete for the league title, the injuries thwarted those ambitions. “Bandari is a team that should be competing for the league. We have not hit that target so we cannot say we are happy with our season.”

As the season concludes, the Bandari coach expressed optimism for the future, looking forward to a stronger campaign next season with hopes of winning a trophy. With the return of their key players, Bandari aims to regain their competitive edge and achieve better results in the upcoming season.
