An angry Jose Mourinho has revealed that his Fenerbahce side can only win the Europa League on one condition.
Fenerbache chairman attacked
Fenerbache chairman Koc was pushed to the ground by a thug who made it onto the pitch and tried to hit him with fists before he was stopped by security.
The president was shielded from a barrage of bottles by police equipped with riot shields after his security formed a human barrier around him.
Fenerbahce TV released the following forceful statement after the game, according to the Sun, “We are witnessing a night of football terrorism. The situation is extremely dangerous.”
In response, Goztepe has now said that Koc is "deliberately riling their fans up" and "provoking" them.
The club said in a statement, "During the league match played against Fenerbahçe in our stadium yesterday, it is completely unacceptable to enter areas where only accredited people can enter, 'despite all the warnings of our CEO', while the match is still going on and to provoke our fans."
The incident represents a rise in the long-simmering fan violence that has been occurring in Turkey for years.
Vigorous occurrences have increased in recent years in Turkey, despite the sport's reputation for harsh settings and fervent supporters.
