Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen moves closer to his dream move to Paris Saint-Germain
Napoli's star striker Victor Osimhen is at the centre of transfer negotiations as Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly willing to give Paris Saint-Germain a marginal discount on the player's release clause.
Napoli willing to offer Osimhen discount
According to Corriere dello Sport, De Laurentiis is prepared to offer a slight reduction on Osimhen’s €130 million release clause to facilitate a transfer to PSG.
The Partenopei are eager to sell the Nigerian striker this summer to fund reinforcements for Antonio Conte’s new project, however, no club has yet matched the hefty release clause, causing delays in the signing of Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku.
Recent discussions have seen Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, travel to Paris to expedite the deal. Napoli's directors are also working diligently from their Castel di Sangro training retreat to reach an agreement with PSG.
The club plans to bring in Lukaku as soon as Osimhen’s transfer is finalised, and the Nigerian striker has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with PSG, worth around €14 million net per season.
Osimhen set for new chapter
For Victor Osimhen, this move appears long overdue as joining PSG would not only offer him a lucrative contract but also the opportunity to compete in the UEFA Champions League consistently. His potential departure from Napoli marks the end of a successful chapter in Serie A, where he has been a standout performer.
Osimhen helped Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years, scoring 26 goals in 32 matches during the 2022/23 season, making him an instant icon of the club.
In total, Osimhen made 133 appearances for Napoli and scored 76 goals for the Partenopei during his four-year spell in Naples.
