Bellingham triumphs over friend and foe
The Real Madrid star edged his former England youth team teammate Jamal Musiala to the award with the Germany international coming.
Musiala and Bellingham are friends who used to share a room coming through the England youth ranks before the former opted to represent Germany internationally. Musiala could not make the event, but he sent a message to his friend.
“Not long ago we were roommates in England! Now you are playing for Real Madrid, and I’m playing for Bayern,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.
He also beat his Real Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga to the award alongside Barcelona trio Gavi, Pedri and Alejandro Balde. Although the first two have been previous winners.
