Juventus continued their pursuit of the Serie A top four with a crucial 1-0 win over Inter Milan 1-0 in the Derby d’Italia.
A lovely Filip Kostic strike in the first half was the difference as Juventus defeated Inter Milan 1-0 at the San Siro to keep their top-four hopes alive.
How it happened
Both clubs came into this clash on the back of successful European exploits during the week, this game having booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and Europa League respectively.
Nicolo Barella hit two fierce strikes in the opening 18 minutes, one from range and another after some wonderful link-up play with Romelu Lukaku, although Wojciech Szczesny was equal to both attempts.
Andre Onana in the Inter goal could do nothing on 27 minutes, as Filip Kostic followed up his two assists in the reverse fixture by sending a scorching strike into the bottom corner that left the goalkeeper rooted.
Juventus continued to threaten after the break but Inter should have pulled one back when Hakan Calhanoglu found space in the area but a poor touch let the midfielder down.
Inter huffed and puffed but were unable to find an equaliser and Juventus held on for a hugely important win.
Meanwhile, Inter have now won just one of their last five fixtures and finish the weekend in third while Juventus earned the 10th win in their last 12 matches across all competitions.
