Juventus defeated Lecce 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium and move second on the league table as they look to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Juventus got back to winning ways after having some bad runnings in recent games. They failed to win any of their last four games as they continue their chase for Champions League football.

The Old Lady took the lead from a Leandro Paredes strike in the first half but got pegged back by Lecce when Assan Ceesay scored from the penalty spot. Juventus got their lead back towards the end of the first half from a Dusan Vlahovic strike with the home team securing all three points.

As it happened

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri fielded a strong lineup as Dusan Vlahovic led the attack for the home team. On the other hand, Lecce manager Marco Baroni made eight changes to his side that defeated Udinese at the weekend.

Lecce took the lead in the 2nd minute of the game but was ruled out for offside by VAR. Juventus took the lead in the 15th minute when Leandro Paredes unleashed a beautiful rocket of a shot from a long-range free kick. The ball goes into the bottom left corner and leaves the goalkeeper beaten.

Juventus also saw their second goal ruled out by VAR after Fabio Miretti scored from an offside position when he met a perfect cross from Nicolo Fagioli. Lecce got the equaliser in the 3rd minute as Assan Ceesay scored from the penalty spot as the ball skipped past Wojciech Szczesny into the bottom right corner.

It didn’t take long before Juventus got their lead back. In the 41st minute, Filip Kostic slid a pass towards Dusan Vlahovic who hit a fabulous shot from long range. The ball goes behind the surprised goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner making it 2-1 for the home side.

The second half started with both teams pushing to score a goal but their efforts were wasted as the game ended in favour of Juventus who now sit second, two points above Lazio in third with a game in hand.
