Patrick Kakande has commended the hunger for victory shown by his SC Villa teammates after they defeated Busoga United FC.
On Thursday, the Jogoos beat the Kingsmen 2-0 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
“Our target coming into today’s game was to secure maximum points, and I plead we achieved that,” Kakande was quoted by the club website in the aftermath of the game before adding.
“It was crucial for us to regain a winning momentum and improve our position on the log.”
“While we had many chances unconverted, our hunger for victories remains strong as we look ahead to the upcoming matches,” he added.
The SUPL record champions scored in either half through Umar Lutalo and Ronald Ssekiganda in the 20th and 75th minutes, respectively.
Both goals were assisted by Kakande, who was eventually awarded the man of the match award for his outstanding performance on the day.
Meanwhile, Lutalo continues to showcase himself as an essential player in the Villa squad. That was his fourth goal of the campaign.
Dusan Stojanovic’s managed team moved into the sixth position with 12 points after eight games, while Busoga is placed 11th with 10 points and have played one more.
The 16-time SUPL winners will visit Soltilo Bright Stars FC at Kavumba on Tuesday, December 5, while the Jinja-based outfit will return home to host Maroons FC at Njeru the next day.
