CECAFA Kampala Queens draw Ethiopian giants in the CAF Women Champions League qualifier

Kampala Queens will host the tournament at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and Lugogo, respectively, from August 12-30.

Kampala Queens will face Ethiopian side Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in the group stages of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers.

Kampala Queens slotted directly to Group A as the main host, while the JKT Queens from Tanzania go into Pool B as the team from the country with defending champion.

The Ugandan champions will host the tournament at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and Lugogo, respectively, from August 12-30.

The draws were conducted on Wednesday night by the Director of Competitions at CECAFA, Yusuf Musi.

Kampala was pitted in Pool A against the Ethiopians, Buja Queens (Burundi), FAD (Djibouti) and Yei Joint stars from South Sudan.

Group B has Tanzania and Kenyan giants JKT Queens and Vihiga Queens, AS Kigali and New Generation from Zanzibar.

Simba Queens won the 2021/22 CECAFA Women Champions League and reached the semifinals of the CAF Champions League but lost their league title to JKT.

Group A will be played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, while B will be hosted at KCCA stadium in Lugogo.

The winner of the tournament will advance to the CAF finals, which will be held in Ivory Coast.
