The highly-rated youngsters played a key role for their respective teams in another thrilling Bundesliga game week.
Last weekend’s Bundesliga round of action delivered yet again as the battle for the league title became interesting.
Marco Reus and Karim Adeyemi led Borussia Dortmund to a 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin, while Josko Gvardiol was strong in defence as RB Leipzig picked up their first win in three games.
There was a massive shock at Borussia-Park as Borussia Monchengladbach handed champions Bayern Munich their first defeat this year.
All the games delivered exciting action, with some players showing their quality once again. With the games done and dusted, here is Pulse Sports’ Bundesliga gameweek 21 team of the week.
Goalkeeper: Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund) vs Hertha Berlin
Ralf Fahrman was considered after keeping a clean sheet to help Schalke 04 secure an impressive 0-0 draw away at Union Berlin.
But despite Fahrman’s heroics, the number one spot belongs to Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel for the second consecutive week.
The Swiss goalkeeper helped Borussia Dortmund to a 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Sunday. Although the result looks comfortable on paper, Dortmund have Grobel to thank as he made a whopping eight saves in the match to seal three points for them at Signal Iduna Park.
Centre-Back: Philipp Lienhart (Freiburg) vs VFL Bochum
Freiburg moved just three points behind Bayern Munich following a 2-0 win at VFL Bochum. One player whose performance contributed to the win and clean sheet was Philipp Lienhart.
Lienhart was rock solid at the back for Christian Streich’s men, making four clearances and five interceptions.
The 26-year-old Austrian also won four duels as Freiburg left Bochum with the maximum points.
Centre-Back: Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig) vs Wolfsburg
Gvardiol caught the world’s attention at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, even though the young Croatian had been giving great performances in Bundesliga before then.
The 21-year-old has continued to impress since the World Cup ended, with another solid showing for RB Leipzig against Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Gvardiol made three interceptions and won six duels to help Leipzig record a clean sheet and a 3-0 win over Wolfsburg.
Left-Back: Borna Sosa (VFB Stuttgart) vs FC Cologne
Borna Sosa is another Croatia player who has carried his World Cup form into the league. The 25-year-old had a great game on Saturday as Stuttgart thrashed Cologne 3-0.
Sosa made one interception and one clearance before capping off a solid performance with a goal.
Right-Back: Lukas Klostermann (RB Leipzig) vs Wolfsburg
Lukas Klostermann showed his versatility once again for Leipzig in their 3-0 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.
The Germany international, playing as a right-back, made three clearances, two interceptions and two tackles. He also won five duels and completed 84% of his passes.
Defensive Midfielder: Kouadio Kone (Borussia Monchengladbach) vs Bayern Munich
Kouadio Kone was immense in the middle of the park as Monchengladbach secured a stunning 3-2 win over leaders Bayern.
The 21-year-old French youngster was involved in almost everything, completing 96% of his passes in addition to the 13 duels he won,
Kone was also brilliant on the creative side, creating one big chance and firing one shot on target.
Central Midfielder: Leandro Barreiro (Mainz) vs Bayer Leverkusen
Mainz secured an impressive 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen at BayArena. Leandro Barreiro played a key role in the win, scoring the second goal just before halftime.
The 23-year-old Luxembourg star also won seven duels, delivering a superb display in the heart of the midfield.
Attacking Midfielder: Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) vs Hertha Berlin
Marco Reus has been unlucky with injuries in his career, but when he is fit, he remains one of the best players to play the game.
He showed that on Sunday with a beautiful performance for Dortmund in the 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin.
The German star scored a brilliant freekick and set up another one in addition to two key passes he made.
Right Winger: Jonas Hofmann (Borussia Monchengladbach) vs Bayern Munich
Monchengladbach were the biggest winner last weekend, so it is only fair the best player gets on the team.
Jonas Hofmann is that guy. The 30-year-old German was unplayable against Julian Nagelsmann’s men as he scored one and set up the other two to help Monchengladbach continue their good form against Bayern.
Left-Winger: Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund) vs Hertha Berlin
What a week it was for Karim Adeyemi. The 21-year-old scored a brilliant solo winner for Dortmund against Chelsea before putting Nigeria on the map with his props for fufu.
Adeyemi continued in the same vein on Sunday as he scored the opener, although he lasted for just 35 minutes before he was taken off.
Striker: Michael Gregoritsch (Freiburg) vs VFL Bochum
Michael Gregoritsch put in an impressive shift for Freiburg up front on Saturday. Gregoritsch had a total of six shots in the game, including two on target, with one resulting in a goal.
