The fast-paced forward, who claimed four awards at the Pilsner - StarTimes Uganda Premier League Awards on Thursday, had to dig deep on an individual level to help his side claim a first league domestic league double.

Athletes worldwide only sometimes rely on their talent alone to improve their craft; a sound support system also plays a role, as is the case for Vipers forward Milton Karisa.

The fast-paced forward, who claimed four awards at the Pilsner - StarTimes Uganda Premier League Awards on Thursday, had to dig deep on an individual level to help his side claim a first league domestic league double.

"I can't judge myself, and I see the same me," the reigning Footballer of the Year told Pulse Sports before adding.

"But I would say playing with some of the best players on the national team, like Okwi (Emmanuel), Miya (Farouk), and Onyango (Denis), was great because they have helped me become better at my game."

"If you notice, at first I used to make rush decisions, but not anymore; I am calmer now and make better decisions, all credit to my teammates on the national team."

Kariisa also added: "The last three/four games were crucial; they were title deciders, so we had to be at our best tactfully and how we approached games; everyone also sacrificed a lot."

"So going forward, I believe we have the best players, and we can achieve everything," Kariisa noted.

The skipper was not the only winner on the night from Kitende; centre-back Hilary Mukundane was also rewarded for his rock-solid defensive displays with the Defender of the Season award.

Both players will be expected to lead the Venoms to another good campaign next season.
