It is understood that Wakiso Giants duly sanctioned a transfer to Ankara in January for an undisclosed fee, but that is after the club had also signed pre-contract agreements with New York.

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) head of legal Denis Lukambi has advised that the saga involving the transfer of Ibrahim Kasule is outside the body’s jurisdiction.

Turkish club Ankara Keçiörengücü and US based side New York Red bulls are locked in a battle over the midfielder which is threatening to boil over.

It is understood that Wakiso Giants duly sanctioned a transfer to Ankara in January for an undisclosed fee, but that is after the club had also signed pre-contract agreements with New York.

Now with Ankara threatening to drag the issue to international football body, FIFA’s dispute resolution chamber for breach of transfer regulations, FUFA has provided clarity.

“We were given legal documents signed between Wakiso Giants and Ankara over the transfer of Ibrahim Kasule,” Lukambi stated.

We sanctioned that move, and under FIFA’s new Transfer Matching System (TMS), we cleared the player to join Ankara in Turkey during the January window.”

“There was no prior request on the system for a transfer of the player, by the time we cleared his move to the Turkish side,” he explained.

“However, I have learnt that there is interest from another club which is reportedly New York Reb bulls. However, that is not an issue that concerns us as FUFA.

Our mandate was to make sure that we clear requests submitted on the TMS system, and if there are is any wrongdoing, it is not liable with us.

“Therefore, we request any of the clubs involved in the saga to forward the issue to FIFA for resolution,” he continued.

Kasule went disappeared from the Ankara last week and travelled back to Uganda, after which he is alleged to have travelled to New York to finalise a move from the club.

Ankara is said to be exploring the potential of filing a formal complaint with the Federation of International Football Association’s (FIFA) dispute resolution chamber to claim damages and breaches to transfer regulations from the US based side.

It is understood that Ankara officially registered Kasule as their player under their reserve side, after hijacking a potential move by the player to New York in January.
