Furthermore, the Uganda Cup final is hosted in different regions on a rotation format, this year it will be staged at Akii Bua Memorial Stadium, Lira in the Northern Region.

It has become a norm that StarTimes Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League teams kickstart the Stanbic Uganda Cup away from home in the Round of 64.

FUFA is always targeting to take the top clubs closer to people in different regions as a way of promoting football.

However, different stakeholders are divergent about the movement: “Premier League and Big-League teams visiting these lower teams is a good idea in many ways,” football coach Sam Ssimbwa told Pulse Sports before adding.

“The Uganda Cup provides them with that great opportunity to see their teams and players and those are memories they will keep forever. But also looking at the logistics it is so expensive for these teams that are still developing.”

“The Uganda Cup is generally a good competition for them to have a feeling of competitive football,” Ssimbwa added.

Coaches' instructor Mujib Kasule does not subscribe to the format: “I do not agree with big teams visiting small teams and it should instead be vice versa.” Kasule said in an interview with this website.

“But all in all, the draws must be conducted the usual way not coming knowing all top teams will be going away.”

“People think that the big teams visiting the small teams is more exciting and attractive no it is not no matter the way you look it.”

Mujib added: “There is exposure when a team from let's say, Karamoja visits KCCA or Vipers. They are in a position to see how things are fairly done so that format should be revised.”
