Four players got to nine by Friday evening, as thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC confirmed parting ways with stars, many of whom, were hugely experienced.
Having let go of Geoffrey Wasswa, Mustafa Kizza, Benjamin Ochan, and Brian Aheebwa by Thursday, the club later confirmed a quintet of more exits.
Playmaker Allan Okello, goalkeeper Ali Mwirusi, left-back Brian Majwega, and midfielder Denis Iguma and striker Brian Kayanja have all been shown the exit, after the expiry of their respective contracts.
The biggest shock is Wasswa, as the defender was a huge hit at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo last season and was unarguably one of the best in his position in the league.
Okello's doesn't come as a huge surprise as he was on a season-long loan deal from his parent club Paradou AC.
The latter reportedly demanded $350,000 (about shs1.2bn) for his permanent release which KCCA deemed unrealistic for their budget.
Meanwhile, Kizza who only made six appearances on his six-month loan return, allegedly had huge demands to stay permanently, which the club decided against.
Iguma, Majwega, and Ochan have been diligent servants at Lugogo, who added valuable experience to the side but were released as the club searches for fresher blood.
On the other hand, Aheebwa, Mwirusi, and Kayanja have each struggled to impress during their respective spells, hence their inevitable departures.
