The win takes KCCA FC to 32 points and still on top of the 15 team log with their next game against Arua Hill at home.

KCCA FC have created a five-point difference between themselves and chasing sides Vipers and BUL.

The 13-time champions defeated Wakiso Giants 1-0 to start the second round of the Uganda Premier League with victory.

Morley Byekwaso’s side dramatically took the lead when forward Rogers Mato landed on a loose ball to strike past a hapless Kirya.

Allan Okello had been brought down but there was no indication of a penalty given by centre referee Ali Sabira.

With the goalkeeper Samson Kirya off his line and Lawrence Bukenya the only teammate behind him, Mato pounced to score.

The assistant referee Ronald Katenya waved offside but after consultations with the referee Ali Sabila, the goal was awarded to send those in yellow into celebrations.

Moses Aliro had fluffed Wakiso’s best chance after Tom Masiko’s ball over the top put the former KCCA forward through on goal.

Geoffrey Wasswa was caught napping but recovered well to put in a last ditch tackle to deny Wakiso what would have been the opener.

Okello’s free kick forced a save out of Kirya to start the second half.

Mikidad Ssenyonga came off the bench and saw his curling ball from out of the box pushed over the bar by custodian Derrick Ochan.

With the clock ticking, Frank Sebuufu set up substitute Sharif Kimbowa but the striker’s shot was straight at the keeper.

The win takes KCCA FC to 32 points and still on top of the 15 team log with their next game against Arua Hill at home.

Wakiso Giants remain fourth for now, and they will be making the trip to Kitende to play Vipers in the next outing.
