After winning his first competitive match as KCCA FC head coach, Sergio Traguil was left amazed by what he saw from some of the players he expects to win silverware with.
But most notably, the Portuguese was impressed by youngster Abubakar Mayanja’s level in the team’s 2-0 win over Wakiso Giants in the quarter-final of the FUFA Super 8 Tournament last Friday.
Speaking to the club media, Traguil said: “I am happy with Abu Mayanja.”

Continental football custodians, CAF, have appointed eight Ugandan referees to handle two Confederation Cup and Champions League bouts.
Mayanja made an instant impression as he bagged a brace to send the Kasasiro Boys to the semi-finals in his first match in the famous yellow colours.
“The young man is adapting well to senior football and developing steadily. He plays with a lot of confidence despite his age,” Traguil added.

KCCA dominated Wakiso and put on a show in the second half of the game to excite the home crowd that has longed for free-flowing football at Lugogo since the departure of Mike Mutebi.
Traguil, however, believes there is still a lot more his team must do before the start of serious business if they are to win their first piece of silverware since 2019.

“There is still so much we can do, and we will improve each game we play. They are playing way better than I was expecting at this time. This is just the 4th week of pre-season, and the lads are playing at a top level.”
KCCA’s next task is against URA FC in the semi-final of the Super 8, the winner of which will face BUL for the trophy.
